Stand Strong, Walk Tall.

Prehabilitation for a Better Future.
Picture
Stand Strong, Walk Tall (SSWT) is a pilot programme providing specialist therapeutic services for adults in Aotearoa New Zealand who experience sexual attraction to children/young people aged under 16.

Our aims are to enhance client wellbeing and contribute to the prevention of child sexual abuse.
SSWT is currently being offered as a pilot research study. It is free for eligible participants and is available face-to-face in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland, Pōneke/Wellington and Ōtautahi/Christchurch, and online for clients around Aotearoa New Zealand.

Reach Out to Us.

We know from recent research that many adults experience sexual attraction to children/young people.

If this is you, we want you to know that you are not alone.
Most research has focused on males and suggests that around 3 percent of the adult male population experience sexual attraction to children/young people.

We don’t yet have estimates of the rates for female and gender diverse groups, and we hope future research fills this knowledge gap.

People of all ethnicities and gender identities are welcome to participate in the SSWT pilot.

How You See Yourself.

Some people who experience sexual attraction to children/young people self-identify with terms including “minor attracted person,” “MAP,” or “nonoffending paedophile.”

However, we appreciate that some individuals who experience sexual attraction to children/young people may not identify with such labels.

We Can Help.

The SSWT pilot welcomes all adults (aged at least 18) who experience sexual attraction to children/young people and want help regardless of what labels they choose to use (or not use) to describe themselves.

Importantly, we recognise that sexual attraction to children/young people does not equate to sexual abuse of children/young people, which is a vital and often overlooked distinction.
